Ecology:
Ecology is the study of organisms in their ecosystems. An ecosystem is a combination of biotic and abiotic factors. An ecosystem can change due to location on the equator

3 Types of Community Interactions:
Predator/Prey: The relationship where one organism captures and feeds off another organism is called predation. The organism that does the capturing and killing is called the predator. The organism that is being captured and killed is called prey.
Symbiosis: Symbiosis is a relationship between two species that "live together." There are three main symbiotic relationships in nature: commensalism, mutualism, parasitism.
Commensalism: A relationship where one species benefits from the other, but the other is not benefited nor harmed.
Mutualism:A relationship where both species benefit from each other.
Parasitism: One organism lives in or inside another organism and harms it. The parasite obtains all its nutritional needs from the other organism, known as the host. The parasite does not kill the organism it feeds off, it only harms/weakens it.
Competition: Competition occurs when organisms of the same or different species try to use the same ecological resource in the same place at the same time. An ecological resource could refer to the water, access to sunlight, space, vegetation as food or shelter; or anything that an organism needs for survival and reproduction

The Giant Clam lives in a marine ecosystem, in the Indian Ocean. It has a symbiotic relationship with algae that live in them. They have a mutualism relationship, the algae is protected from predators, and the Giant Clam feeds off of the algae photsynthesis.
